Jaap was instrumental in obtaining the worldwide regulatory approval for Bluetooth – that has turned the technology into such a long-lasting powerhouse we still rely on today.The utility of what he invented immediately made Jaap Haartsen a notable name in the history of mobile technologies.For his seismic contribution to the communications industry, and for empowering and enabling us all to communicate with each other better, the Lovie Awards is thrilled to honour Jaap Haartsen with the 2022 Lovie Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lovie Awards is excited to honore Pernille Harder with a 2022 Lovie Special Achievement Award in recognition of her outspoken advocacy on gender equity, LGBTQ+ women, and dismantling stereotypes in sport.Pernille Harder is the epitome of an outstanding athlete who uses their platform to make the world a better place. In recent years she has called for further investment in women’s football at grassroots level and focused her energy highlighting issues that face the LGBTQ+ community. She has spoken openly on a number of occasions about her relationship with teammate Magda Eriksson, even opening their Twitter DMs on Valentine’s Day in the hope it will help and encourage more players in the men’s and women’s game to come out.Harder is uses her platform to help drive change for the long-term future of women’s football and she finished by calling for better pitches in the WSL as well as more coaching opportunities for young women, and has been an active member of Common Goal, the social activism group in football that aims to use football to change the lives of disadvantaged young people all over the world.For her tenacious dedication to the cause of gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, and for her inspiring and outspoken advocacy the 2022 Lovie Awards honours Pernille Harder with a Lovie Special Achievement Award.

The Lovie Awards is honoured to recognize Alice Oseman as the 2022 Lovie Video Person of the Year for her breakthrough media success with Heartstopper, and for consistently creating original, ground-breaking work that is intrinsically tied to the Internet and digital culture.
Alice Oseman’s LGBTQ+ Young Adult romance webcomic Heartstopper began life as a webcomic on Tumblr and Tapas, where it amassed an enormous online fanbase, racking up well over 50M+ views before being recognised by publishers Hachette Children’s Group, and delivered in physical form.
Heartstopper follows two teenage boys, Nick and Charlie, as they meet at school in Britain, quickly become friends and fall in love. Each volume navigates the ups and downs of first love, friendships, coming out, and mental health, beautifully framed by a warm cast of supporting characters. Inspiring an immense outpouring of love and support from fans, Heartstopper was an immediate success, and was then picked up to be adapted for television by Netflix, with Oseman signed as the writer, creator and executive producer.
Alice’s first novel Solitaire was published when she was nineteen. Her Young Adult novels have been nominated for the YA Book Prize, the Inky Awards, the Carnegie Medal, and the Goodreads Choice Awards. She has inspired her millions of fans to feel comfortable being themselves, and in the process, becoming an important voice for the LGBTQ+ YA community.
